Last but not lest, the major enemy, the strategic adversary is fascism. And not only historical fascism, the fascism of Hitler and Mussolini - which was able to mobilize and use the desire of the masses so effectively - but also the fascism in us all, in our heads and in our everday behavior, the fascism that causes us to love power, to desire the very thing that dominates and exploits us.

It is exactly a good film, with a kind of slow deepness.

It received awards again now, in the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), including Best film, Best supporting actor, Best director, Adapted screenplay as well.

Lee Ang is a great director. I think it should be difficult for a chinese director to go through the deepness of American culture, but he did, and did well.  In contrast to Ang, Zhang Yimou just likes a kid.

At a first glance, it is not as poor as its cover design. It looks like an overview of the state of contemporary chinese architecture. The approch sounds a bit of "structuralist". However, it might be difficult to discuss chinese stuffs by this way, personally, I think. It also should be difficult to set some kind of "Evaluating Criteria". Or, we can ask: For WHO? For WHAT? And WHY? Ideology, consumption, media, despot......are all matters there, but never "the all" at the same time. What's "the all" then? Rhizome?
